When Daniel married Mary Ann THURSTON in 1826, he was farming at Evan, near Castlereagh. He was an enterprising man, venturing into unexplored country to the north. He established a cattle run on the Gwydir River. This run grew to about 33,000 acres and was worked with his nephew, William CROWLEY.

William EATON bequeathed ‘Eatonville’ to Daniel along with a sixth share in the livestock. With his sons, William and George, Daniel lived on ‘Eatonville’ until his death at 86 years of age. He was interred in the EATON Vault along with his wife, Mary Ann.
