The Crowleys were granted 100 acres of land at North Richmond, just one block from that of Jane’s mother and stepfather.

By 1828 John CROWLEY, listed as a farmer at North Richmond, owned 250 acres of land, 70 of it cleared with 52 cultivated. He had 13 horses, 220 cattle and 7 sheep. This land holding grew to 324 acres.
​
After John died in 1833, Jane Charlotte married William ASTON, one of the men who worked for her.
